We enjoy nvidia hardware. Think of all the interting thing that will come from opening up...
would love to stick with nVidia!

I have loved NVIDIA products for years, and this is one of the thing I have been waiting for!
Ubuntu user and GNU fanatic.
I'm a consumer of your products, but I still have a choice. Open the drivers!
definitely and nvidia guy at heart, would certainly like to keep it that way.
This would bring much more development time from more people!
Open Source FTW - owner of 8800 GT
My GeForce4 MX is tried and true - the binary blob Just Works, allowing for perfect non-HD video playback. The ATI graphics in my laptop can't do that, and they have twice the horsepower. Even though the blob works (and I am grateful for that), I don't like blobs. I'm getting due for a new tower, and a new graphics card to go with it. I wouldn't mind going NVidia again, since their support is so good. However, I don't like blobs. Whatever I end up buying will be supported by free drivers.
Don't be evil. Be open.
snip snip snip
Yes. Do it.
Open the blob wide like the eye of goatse!
I enjoy your products, but please allow us to have free drivers!
Currently running on a 7600, looking at some of the geforce 9 series for an upgrade, better drivers are always nicer, I'm actually having some issues with my current ones though. The entire linux community would appreciate more effort from nvidia.
Do it
Open it up.
Proud owner of a GeForce 2, a 6800 GT, and a 8800 GTX.
Fully agreed
support fram a community with bug-reports and fixes can only improve corporate development speed
I've been using Linux as a dual boot on my Windows PC for a year now and will be upgrading the next months, had set my sight on the 9600 or even 9800 if it gets out, but since there are no open-source drivers, i'll have to be considering AMD/ATi's graphic cards instead
No comments necessary, everything was worded perfectly in the letter.
Whether you like it or not, open source software is the future of computing. Join the future.
I have 3 linux pcs running NVIDIA cards. I do not feel that your closed source drivers (although good) have been able to keep up with recent developments. I would hate to have to switch my preferred card manufacturer. The future is open.
User of 7600GS Mobile, 7600GS and 8400GS
Ubuntu, Fedora and Debian user. NVIDIA chipset and Video Cards owner.
having good & open source hardware drivers is my #1 criterium when selecting hardware to buy or to recommend to friends.
damn straight!
let's see this happen!
have two computers with nvidia cards... this has a direct impact on me... of course I'm signing. We need this in a very real and direct way yesterday. Why is there even any question of this. Why don't we have it already. It's good for everyone.
I own a nVidia card
Pretty please...
would love to see there official response.
Please stick to the hardware and let us provide the software. Or are you a software company as well?
do what AMD did, much better in the long run
My main reason for buying an nvidia card previously was because of ATi's horrible Linux driver support, but now that they are making a gesture to the OSS community, I would hope nVidia will follow suit.
Programs won't work on my new computer 02-03-08 that work on my older computer06-14-07 , both AMD
Hey, open-source anything ftw
I agree. NVIDIA, please open your drivers. With the additional support of hundreds of freelancers from around the globe, things can only get better. Plus I'm getting an NVIDIA powered laptop soon.
I am going to buy a new PC in October. In the spirit of Free Software I will buy a AMD Phenom and an ATI Radeon. I don't care if I am paying about $50,- more for 6 less FPS because I know I will get a Free Software system and that is worth so much more to me.
I believe to stay competitive it is imperative that open source drivers be released
open source revolution
Hats off to nvidia for the Linux support, but a truly open driver would allow for more transparent bug tracking and fixing.
I have been a loyal nVidia follower since my first Diamond v550 Riva TNT with 16MB. I have never bought another inferior(ati) product since. I am a huge Linux user. Have been for about 7 years now. I cant go back to windoze. PLEASE OPEN YOUR DRIVERS!!
You have done a great job helping us, now let us help you as well as each other.
Please, Let the free software community help with the software end of your marvelous hardware
Nvidia - the way it's meant to be played on "Linux"
If ATI can do it, then so can you nVidia.
NVIDIA cards are all I have been buying in the last few years because of the great closed-source driver support, however ATI will start wining me over if we don't get open source NVIDIA drivers soon! ;)
The availability of opensource drivers are strongly directing my hardware purchase, and also my recommendation to others.
Please support openness... You will find the synergy incredible!
