5000!))))
Nvidia makes nice hardware, but we still have driver under linux worse then under win$...
+1
Please
I want open drivers.
Would be great!
I am sure that even though you cannot open the whole source. I do believe that the majority could be opened to allow developers to make a reasonable attempt at developing a better driver.
Good idea!
Agree
Nvidia!!!
I'm primarily an NVIDIA geek, but Intel's looking pretty good right now.
Greetings, please do it, thanks, bye.
agreed
Good!
I want this shit. Why we must to be in SW dependency of HW vendor under free system? RU

I am a long-time Linux user, and have always been a loyal NVIDIA customer. Please, PLEASE support the open source community by releasing more documentation and/or code to facilitate the development of a stable, secure alternative to the closed-source drivers that are currently being offered. Listen to your customers, and they will support you through the continued purchase of your hardware. Thanks!
I am a linux user, and I really would love to see great improvements in the driver, and i would like to see it integrated in the major linux distributions by default and not marked as restricted. Please do it.
Please open it up. We want this to be a win for all Free Software -- NetBSD, OpenBSD, OpenSolaris, Linux, and all of the future to come.
Open source drivers would be real nice.
I love nVidia video cards. I love OSS. Any increased correlation of the two would be great.
Linux need open drivers.
It is in YOUR BEST INTEREST to open the specifications, to stay competetive and elude the microsoft oppression.
Very good!!
First Intel, then AMD/ATI, now ??????
It is time to change, NVIDIA
Video Drivers for UNIX must be free
Please
The better work to do
Video driver for nVidia have to be more discovered. This is a success for retail sale.
Even if I don't own an nvidia card, they got to follow the lead of amd and intel.
Yes, will be very great for Free Software users. Thank u.
+1000
I strongly agree.
me 2!
I guess since Intel planned it's G45 GPU and AMD had opened it's documentation for r500 chips and planing to open all documentation for r600 (r700) chips. I guess since that time NVIDIA has the only one way - to open documentation. The proprietary driver with my 8800GT cause usage of 100% CPU when I'm running qt4 applications, compiz or other composite managers. Since DRI2 is out NVIDIA driver should use it but not NVIDIA's own bicycle. If NVIDIA shouldn't open it's driver before 2009 I'll purchase AMD r700 for my desktop and the laptop with Intel/AMD chip.
My video card hardware to date: Trident, Savage3D SR9, NVIDIA GeForce 2MX, GeForce 3, GeForce 5200, GeForce 6800. What should my next one be, now that AMD and Intel have open sourced?
Open source is the future folks, and we need excellent graphics like your hardware provides. You must help open source development of NVIDIA drivers or we'll turn to other vendors. It's as simple as that.
I went with Nvidia last purchase as the closed ATI drivers were the worst of the two. Now ATI drivers are opened up a lot and I will be making my next high-end card purchase decision in about 6-9 months. I swing the OSS way re video drivers simply because it works with far less hassle than wrangling closed drivers into the system!
GOOOO.. Open NVIDIA
I am a long-time customer of NVIDIA and of its partners. As a programmer, I would love to be given the chance to do more with the hardware I own rather than to be shackled by legal matters and closed specifications. Please, NVIDIA, follow AMD's lead and open the specifications. It can do only good for NVIDIA and its customers.
If nothing change, i will move to ATI in 6 months...
nVIDIA please!

That's will be good
Free Drivers!
+1
definitely buy nvidia graphic if there is open source driver for it.
Thanks
I have troubles running Compiz (Ubuntu Gutsy) on my nVidia hardware, the driver seems to be buggy. If the driver is closed-sourced there's nothing you can do. Please, go opensource!
alert("lol");
I whant use NVIDIA on linux
I have always been the nVidia lover. From TNT2 times till nower days I have never used other video card vendors. But next time buying notebook i will chose the one which have open source drivers for video card. I wish nVidia think more freely and open specifications for modern GPU's. Please listen your fun's and lowers who are signing this letter. Thanks!
Yes! And add patch to prevent memory leaks in 169.xx drivers version
