Please let the community help you and themselves. Provide documentation. Compete on features and quality, not on drivers which cost you money to develop and maintain.

Russell

Yes Please release OS

Chris Hunt

I have purchased only nvidia cards for years, and we have been replacing company cards with them now as well, I vow to discontinue this practice unless driver spec are opened, and in turn I will buy only ATI cards and suffer the consequences for that.

Mark Dorgan

It would a be a great opportunity. You could only stand to gain from joining the competition. The alternative is to lose business to the open source friendly corporations.

Jim Fern

The Linux community wants to help! NVIDIA please help us out so we can help every user across the world out.

I am personally much more likely to buy or recommend nvidia cards if nvidia puts more support behind developing free software drivers.

Daniel

Competition is good.

Knowledge is freedom, never forget.

I have hundreds of machines with nVidia cards and motherboards that I would love to see out of the box kernel support for. I currently have to build the nVidia module so that people can utilize their desktops properly (vs. nv driver). Any movement to get the nVidia code into the linux kernel would be a great evolution and contribution.

I have been a Die hard Nvidia fan since i got my first Geforce Mx 2. I have never owned anohter brand of video card since. I just recently started using Ubuntu and see how important it i that we have open driver. I dont want to use ATI, infact i despise them, but i mgiht have to unless you guys come around.

Andrew Saylor

Would be wonderful to see. Even if they release specs, they can still be competitive in the design of the hardware and thus still be able to make plenty of money.

NVidia support for linux/unix operating systems has been excellent. However, this is still a far cry from opening up and letting the developer community at large unleash the power of Nvidia devices.

J

Don't be an outcast Nvidia, Just do it! Help us all by taking a step away from Windows.

Open drivers will open your bisness to grater sales due to many people using linux backup or old machines

NV is a terrible driver, and I'd love to have a decent open-source NVIDIA driver.

I have always used Nvidia in the past. Tried ATI once and was disappointed. I'm looking for a new video card and if you plan to open source the driver it will make my decision much easier.

Thanks for your great Linux support! Please continue and improve your products and services for a thriving and growing community.

Alan

This is just something that has to be done.

Chris

Please release your drivers to the open source community! If you don't, you will drive many people into Intel/ATI's arms. I have always considered Nvidia to be the superior card, and I would hate to switch over driver issues!

Andrew Szeto

Otto Solares

Right now the blob is a very good implementation but the problem lies in integration with upcoming projects like kernel-setting-mode, xorg extensions, etc. So technically is a need and politically is correct so NVIDIA please publish GPU (and other hardware) specs documentation without NDA constraints.

Dustin

Bruce Pennypacker

Tyler Matteau

I have an HP Laptop with an NVIDIA card.

david singer

no open source drivers is the reason i buy ATI over nVidia.

Thomas Higginbotham

Please open the drivers and enable REAL linux support.
