If it would not be open and free I would be use radeon and recommend it my customers
I think that nvidia will listen :)
Lack of native Linux games/software is what is keeping Linux from becoming a main stream OS. Opening up your drivers will enable game software developers to produce games for Linux and potentially better software overall.
owner of 6800gt... waiting on good news before i upgrade
Open Source is the way to go.
The deciding factor in my next video card purchase will be the availability of mature open source drivers. My last card was an NVidia because the ATI drivers were not up to par as compared to NVidia drivers. ATI now has a community backing which puts things in their favor. A piece of hardware is only as good as its interface to the OS, not the motherboard.
The OS revolution is already here! Follow it or regret not doing it!
I use Nvidia for my computer and i installed it in many others due to the great compatibility with Linux. Lets use the community momentum.
Open - Source pleaese!
Proud owner of: Geforce3 Ti200 Geforce 5200 Geforce 7300GT Geforce 7900GS Please open up your drivers so we may utilize your cards to the fullest.
I have been unable to use my desktop properly for almost a month due to the proprietary nVidia drivers not working properly with it, and I'm quite sure that the problem is a simple fix, but if the drivers remain proprietary, the needed fix may never come :(
The last PC I bought was with an NVIdia GPU, because at that time Nvidia had the best linux driver. Now ATI would of course be my choice. Not because of the quality of the HW itself, but because of what I can do with it thanks to the better OSS driver.
Do it nvidia!
yes we need it
I own a 6600GT, 7300GT and a 7600GT. Watching closely to see what happens before next upgrade purchase, as I am 100% Linux now.
Your commitment with GNU/Linux's communities and opened code will be fundamental for my next purchase.
Open source will make your drivers even better.
Opensource Yay!
я за. в общем давно пора бы уже! open your drivers please!
Hope this is worth it.
Parce que LINUX le vaut bien
Please
Please make you're drivers open source!!! Maybe you will notice that the open source community is innovative and can even open up new ways of making money.
Do it ^^
Very well!
I have bought only NVIDIA graphics cards for years, but have recently started considering a switch to ATI simply because of the linux support. Please continue to be the best graphics card for linux users, and we will continue to purchase your hardware.
I'm planning to buy news computers with Nvidia graphic cards because they work great thanks to your drivers under Linux. But you could do even better freeing the code. Thanks.
I would like to see opensource drivers. In my opinion it would only increase the usability and sales of your product.
Unless this, my nexts video-cards will be AMD.
I've been using NVidia graphics cards for a long time. But now that ATI have opened up, I will convert since I prefer open drivers before proprietary ones.
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

Free software is better
opennnnnnn
I would appreciate it very much, if you would open your drivers. The future is open!
Linux user with geforce 8600gts
I wholeheartedly agree. Recently because of kernel API changes, the NVidia driver has been stuck in a time warp. There has been an effort from some forum users that has filled the gap, but so far NVidia has been silent, but for one comment about a "largely political" situation that has arisen
When choosing hardware open drivers and specifications are important. It's the number one selling point for me, or when I recommend hardware
Please ;)
This would improve competition in comercial market and open new market for Nvidia in form of large scale render farms base on linux
It is time for companies such as Nvidia to realize the potential of alternative systems such as Linux and open its specifications to the community.
I use Fedora and various Linux flavors. Would very much like to have an open version of the NVidia drivers so I would not have to compile it manually every time. Please include in the Linux kernel.
Please....
I vote with my IT budget.

one more hard reason to follow using nvidia on GNU/linux
.
go go go !
For freedom.
Looking really forward to this being a success
Properly supporting open source driver development would be a boon to both linux users/developers/companies, and the wider industry.
Free dirvers for everyone!
Using a 7300gt with Debian Sid. With the past quality of ATi's Linux drivers, I have persuaded my less-technical friends to buy nVidia cards. As ATi's open-source drivers improve, if nVidia does not start opening their drivers, the people that rely on me for technical assistance will be directed toward ATi once more.
