NVIDIA did an excellent work with their drivers in Linux, but with the time AMD will be better thanks to the published documentation. NVIDIA, don't be stupid and close your doors to this market where you have been the leader till now.
From am OpenBSD user as well, documentation would be great to see.
I use Nvidia graphics on my computer and would love to have the ability to use an open source driver instead of the current restricted driver.
Let's stay ahead of the competition!
AMD/ATI has reveiled their secret sauce, let's stop the reverse engineering and see the specs.
Excellent Free Software drivers for Nvidia hardware can only happen with your support. Please stand with us to create excellent Free drivers for your excellent hardware!
Please follow suit and open your specs. This can only benefit you as a company, and for fans of yours in the *nix community!
The nv driver is broken and unusable for some people, and has been for nearly 2 years. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6212 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=400189
ubuntu gnu/linux e da sempre cliente nvidia
Free NVIDIA!!!!
I love nVidia!
ATI Radeon user
I would be interested in buying nvidia if free software drivers are available.
Come on, do it.
Come one NVIDIA dont let ATI take your leadership in linux market.
this is a good idea ;)
Just purchased a 9000 series and extremely disappointed there is no linux support. especially open source rock solid drivers. i have had nothing but trouble with your closed drivers.
opening specs of all nvidia series at least to the geforce 7 series is good for us and nvidia. opening the 8 specs when 9 comes out seems a good compromise
I love nVidia.. :D
I have 6 different nVidia cards that I've bought over the years, but unless this changes, my next computer will have Intel graphics.
I won't buy another nVidia until they open their driver.
Please do this, I have been loyal to NVIDIA since the TNT2 but with what ATI has done, my next card may be an ATI.
Please join the rest of the Grahpics industry and realise that the linux community will help your driver and increase your sales
open source is easier to maintain
Just do it! ..please
C'mon nvidia... Everybody's doin' it! ;-)
Great!
Unless the GeForce series goes open source, by next card will be an ATI. I would rather have a GeForce, but I cannot keep using proprietary drivers.
a clear statement about Nvidia's future plans concerning this issue would help all of us, .. so please...
do it!
I will be building a new computer in about a year. While my main consideration for a video card will be compatibility with Linux, open specs and drivers facilitate compatibility.
Hi, Open source is how it's all going, it's sooner rather than laer! The more 'eyes' the better the better the driver. J.
I love nVidia, but will soon start buying ATI cards if they continue to be closed source. Too many items (like suspend and resume) require an open framework to work out all the edge case problems that go along with video drivers.
Let the open source community work for you.
NVIDIA supporting Open Source drivers could make me switch to a GeForce.
Yes.. free the driver nvidia, i love u!
Please open source it or at least work on the nv/nouveau driver!
Please, consider open-source drivers!
I got Nvidia instead of ATI for my linux laptop .Since i know this is best for my Compiz Fusion rather than ATI cards. I truly support open source and so nvidia please support us to continue supporting you back.
I hope Nvidia will do the right thing. I just don't understand why their video card is drawing so much power under Linux. Since their driver is closed, there is nothing the open source community can do.
You need to if you want to stay on top of ATI
