Nvidia is my favorite brand of graphics card. I rely on them to provide me with great graphics when I'm gaming. Although I love games, I also use Linux for day to day computing. Please open the drivers, it would make running linux on my nVidia systems far easier.

As a long time Avid Gamer, i only purchase Nvidia Video Cards. I however have switched to linux a few years ago. If the newer Nvidia cards do not have better Linux Support than is currently offered, my next video card will be an ATI.

Additionally, an open-sourced nVidia driver would be welcome by those of us who would like to run, say, a platform that nVidia's binary drivers do not currently support, such as FreeBSD on AMD64.

All knowledge should be free to all who desire to learn. It is the soul responsibility of those who have the knowledge to share it, to all who desire it, and all for free.

Nathan N. Sword

I wholeheartedly agree with the aforementioned statement... I truly hope that one day, we will all enjoy a truly open-source environment, including proprietary open source driver platforms. Please help us usher in a new era of non-capitalistic, open-source platform development by assisting the community in releasing this much needed resource.

Please, open up your drivers or at least 3D specs.

By refusing to fully support Linux you are effectively raising a middle finger to what could be a massive market. I've never heard of rejecting markets instead of actively pursuing them and "good business strategy" in the same sentence.

I left Matrox because they abandoned their Linux driver. I like my NVIDIA 7600GT but would love to know why it gets so hot in console mode. Having the source would let me find out myself!

I own a nVidia VC, but I'll consider ATI/Intel for the next purchase, if their video driver support is better (and I believe it will)

Cory Lytle

Just bought a new 8800GT since the ATI drivers aren't acceptable. YET>

Nvidia has the best linux drivers atm so I buy them, but once the opensource ATI drivers get into full swing I will buy them if Nvidia do not have not open sourced their drivers.

Last year I changed from an ATI back to an nVidia because of better driver support for Linux. I might have to change back to ATI this or next year depending on the official reply for this.

What's the point of spending $$$ on video hardware when the drivers are hobbled crap? And how about supporting standard X options while you're at it!

Ian Fischer

I am a graphics researcher, and I would love to see open source drivers on the NVIDIA platform.

Please open the nVidia driver so that it may finally have the same capabilities as Windows

We are serving the Open Community, and there will be always Open minded manufacturers some where on this earth ...

Open your drivers and I will pay more for your cards. As a home user with an approximately median household income I would place the increased value at approximately the full retail price of a card. I'm not kidding; I will pay double for a card if the drivers are open. The situation now is barley tolerable. This may not be the easiest way for you to obtain a competitive advantage but if enough people think like me then I'm sure it will be worth your while.
