Open the drivers!

Erik Nomitch

I am currently on the in development nouveau driver but it would be great if that team could have access to all of the work you have put into the closed source driver.

Olivier Duclos

Please.

Brian Paterni

My next graphics card/motherboard will be manufactured by AMD/ATI if you do not open up!

Lester Vecsey

GPL code is important to me and would be a step in the right direction towards supporting the nvidia module on bleeding edge kernel releases.

Its shocking and disappointing how difficult it is to use Nvidia's cards in a Linux environment - I've actually considered switching to ATI, even though their products aren't as good as Nvidia. Come on Nvidia, get with it already.

I have a nvidia card gt7600, is a wonderful on linux, but can run better with your help. thanks. yo tengo una tarjeta nvidia gt7600, es una maravilla, pero puede mejorar con un mejor soporte de drivers, gracias.

The above applies particularly with laptops. Even the closed-source NVIDIA drivers will often not work properly either.

I am a Linux only user and a serious customer of you with influence on company purchases (3000+ empl). I privately own 5 nVidia recent cards, purchases this year include 8800GTX and Quattro FX 360m. Open drivers would be decisive now other manufacturers opened their specifications.

Michael Banks

Getting the closed nvidia drivers to work can really be a pain. The OSS drivers almost always just work.

Jonathan Ford

I have an old nVidia card and it still works a treat. Plan on buying again in the future, although I have found the drivers on Linux to be frustrating at times. Open source drivers would be fantastic, and would (hopefully) integrate much better with Linux and other OSes.

Thank you.

I have both nvidia and ati video cards. I need a good driver for these cards, as I do alot of 3d programming in my spare time. My next card will probably be ati, even though their drivers are more buggy, they are getting a lot better. Though if you open up your drivers, I would defiantly get a geforce 8800.

Brian Mitchell

I think nVidia ought to consider its business model. Is keeping the specs close going to keep them competitive at this? I don't think so.

Ed Hill

If nVidia can (help) provide open source drivers that actually work with suspend/resume on laptops, then I'll consider purchasing nVidia hardware.

Martin Olsson

Free markets, free software!

Brian Jenkins

Tracy R Reed

I'm going ATI from now on until Nvidia's committment is at least on par with ATI's. I'm very impressed with ATI's openness and willingness to work with the Free Software community.

Sean Ziegeler

As an advanced Linux user, I don't mind installing the closed-source drivers. But as Linux spreads to the more casual user, I suspect that having pre-installed NVidia drivers will make NVidia hardware a more attractive option for such users. And of course, the more "openness" involved in the driver, the more it can be included in Linux distributions.

I really wish Suspend and Hibernate would work properly with nVIDIA graphics cards.

I've always been a huge fan of NVIDIA products, and whole-heartedly request that my signature be counted. Please open up your source, and reap the benefits offered by a loyal community.

Andrew Schott

Please take this seriously. We can always choose another vendor, but why should we? Give us a reason to keep staying loyal -- release your specs! Thanks!

Nicholas Farnan

I currently own an nVidia graphics card, but know that if AMD has an full open source 3D acceleration driver and nVidia does not when it comes time to update my current graphics card, I will be purchasing an AMD card.

I always was a fan of NVidia's video cards, but because of ATI's move toward open source, I switched side. I would like to switch back to NVidia, and without any doubt, I will switch back when I see some genuine effort from NVidia to support the OpenSource.
