Good documentation would go a long way to help the open source community. I'm also sure that the binary blob contains code that could be open sourced. Please consider helping Linux/Unix users with documentation, funding for the open source drivers, and less black box offical drivers

6 systems running Linux with Nvidia here. But lack of open drivers means we feel the pain sometimes. As the competition open and improves their Linux offerings you can bet I'll be looking harder at them the next time I shop for a laptop.

Roberto Rodriguez

I'm an Ubuntu user and the next I buy a computer I would like to be able to buy one which has an Nvidia card. Please collaborate! Thank you

It is always sad to be put into a position of choosing between license terms and features/performance when considering a graphics card for a linux system.

I use nVidia exclusively in my machines, and I am in the process of switching, totally away from WIN platform, to GNU/Linux, for good. Open-source and freedom of information are the main drive behind this...please, nVidia, do /your/ part...

please open up at least your specs or what would be even cooler release your current driver under an gpl license

My new computer has a Radeon graphics card because I value software freedom. ATI has given so little, that Nvidia could easily beat them. I would love to go back to Nvidia, but I refuse to do so as long as ATI is releasing specs and Nvidia isn't.

I use only NVIDIA Graphics Cards since i got my Riva128, at that time standing up agains the whole 3DFX / Glide world clinging to the few D3D supported games at tha time. Now decades later I am seriously considering an ATI/AMD card. I'll see where NVIDIA stands when the ATI OSS drivers are mature. I really hope NVIDIA will have something ready at that time to stay competitive in the growing Linux/BSD market.

I have always preferred nVidia's hardware over ATi's. This move made by ATi to support open driver development is making me consider their hardware over nVidia's. My next card _will_ be ATi if things don't change.
