As long time Nvidia customer and linux user, I strongly push for a more open driver approach.

Open, it is far more simple than to keep it closed.

This will only mke the drivers better
The Future is Open.
I'd appreciate that.
I've been purchasing Nvidia components for 6 years for my systems, please don't make me switch to AMD/ATI due to this.
After ATI support to opensource, it would be only logical to open drivers for Linux/Unix community, NVIDIA!
Please open the drivers, I've used nvidia for over 6 years and really enjoy them. But without normal driver support I don;t think this tendency will go on.
The NVIDIA driver is the last remaining bit closed source software on my linux system. It'd be great if NVIDIA joined the trend and opened its specifications or even their drivers - and it would be a benefit for both the open source community and NVIDIA.
dear nVIDIA.. i've been a devoted customer to your products for years.. please make a Linux user happy and open up the drivers ! Thanks
Put an end to all the freezes and crashes!

I agree!
Please open up! AMD's open soure strategy is the way to go. I would very much like to see NVIDIA adopting a similar open source strategy.
openSUSE with openVidia?
This would seal the deal for me never ever buying an ATI card ever again. Even if NVIDIA is 2x as expensive.
I support this initiative that will enable us to have a truly open and free systems. And will give us more "out-of-the-box" linux distributions.
I would really like to see NVIDIA providing hardware specs!
1. As a game developer working on Linux, it would be wonderful to have more insight to what's going on and to have a better quality driver. 2. As a Linux end user it would be great to have a driver that would be compatible with the new APIs that Xorg comes up with (XRandr for example). This would make your product integrate with the rest of my environment better. Not to mention the hassle free out-of-the-box experience. 3. As a free software lover it would be great to be without a binary blob on my system. With an open source driver I would have no problem recommending you to other Linux users. 4. Thanks for listening :)

Tbh i buy an ATI 3870 because in my opinion will be better suported in linux. Please open those drivers or after 2 years i will buy ATI again. Thx for listen me.
In future, I want to buy new graphics card. I don't have experience with any other than nVidia, but it looks, my future graphics card will be from AMD
It would be really great!
I have been using nVidia hardware for some time, but have switched to AMD/ATI on all my 4 systems because of their open source strategy. If nVidia starts to support open source in a proper maner, I would consider nVidia cards again.

Speed up!
I don't buy or advice anyone to buy hardware developed by companies who are not making notable contributions to the Free development of drivers for their products.
Go AMD!!!
I own two machines with nvidia gfx cards purchased when there was no alternative for decent performance. I have no reason to upgrade at this time, however, thinking longer term no adequate OSS driver means I would automatically opt for AMD/ATi or Intel when the time comes. There would be additional potential sales whenever mu opinion is sought.
Please get your kernel module into the mainline kernel trunk.
nVidia was once the king of linux 3D - now the winds of change are blowing stronger than ever. Times are changing - don't miss it, nVidia! /a loyal nVidia customer/
Do it! (Please)
GeForce 7950GT user. Would like to see a console framebuffer driver in the kernel (nvidiafb) coexist with XOrg 3D support (nv/nvidia).
As a user and developer in the GNU/Linux community I can tell you that opening the drivers or at least opening the specs will greatly improve sales. I know many computer manufactures will not sell nvidia hardware on GNU/Linux based machines because most distros will not include a closed source driver in their distribution by default and the computer manufacture will only include hardware that is supported by default on every distro. As a developer I know that companies do not like closed source things in their products. I currently work for a company which always choses hardware with open source drivers before closed source. Not only will opening the driver and/or the spec help the community but it will help you so please open them up!
I need blender drivers for Blender and such things. I think it's very cool if there were reliable open source drivers!
We pay for your products and we deserve same rights and same driver support as the win users. We pay the same price and became inferior drivers, that's discrimination. It doesn't matter which OS we use.
I work at Google. For most computers we use Nvidia, so I think this is cool!
GFX cards are not only hardware, drivers and support is what it matters most, let us use the hardware that we bought in the proper, fast, stable way...
I Digg it
I support the proposal, it would increase the sale of nvidia video cards by Linux users
I've never had serious problems with the closed driver, opposed to the one from amd/ati. However, I would like to be able to watch smooth video which is not possible due to lack of Xv support on my 8600M.
NVIDIA, while your products are really great, I'll be switching to AMD as soon as their open source driver is ready.

Toshiba Satellite X200-21G - 2 nVidia GeForce 8600 GT SLI 512 MB VRAM Debian Lenny It would be great if we can have a full featured free (as free speech) nvidia driver for Linux
Please open your driver, or at least provide us the spec. AMD and Intel are both open-source supporters now, you have no reason to keep your secret.
